Continental Clothing Company Limited is an award-winning designer and manufacturer of high quality, ethically made and sustainable print-ready clothing products.

Continental Clothing Co. started in 1998 in London, UK as a B2B wholesaler, distributor of T-shirts, sweatshirts and children's clothing. Over its 25 years, Continental Clothing has earned a reputation as a pioneer in the development of ethical and sustainable fashion. The company has developed four unique brands of ethical consumer clothing - Continental®, EarthPositive®, Salvage® and Fair Share™ - which are among the most relevant value-based clothing brands in the world. They focus on creating high-quality, expertly styled apparel for the retail of fashion, music merchandise and corporate promotions, with its hard-fought ethical and sustainable values woven into every garment.

The Company applies the Responsible Business Conduct Policy , which applies to both internal operations and all suppliers in relation to respect for human rights. The Company has recently signed specific supplier agreements with all suppliers to ensure responsible business practices, fairness, long-term financial stability and predictability of the business and to facilitate HRDD processes.

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTORING

Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. Sustainable manufacturing also enhances employee, community, and product safety.

Continental Clothing Co. recognises that garment manufacturing is one of the most environmentally damaging and harmful industrial sectors on the planet, and takes decisive and often pioneering steps towards addressing the many negative impacts. Starting with the sourcing of raw materials, the Company ensures full traceability of all fibres, choosing low impact cotton, Tencel® Lyocel, bamboo and EcoVero viscose, and recycled polyester in the Continental® range, 100% certified organic cotton in the EarthPositive® range, and recycled organic cotton blended with recycled polyester in the Salvage® range.

Continental Clothing Co. has been a vivid supporter of many high profile campaigns, including the Clean Cotton Campaign, Pick Your Cotton Carefully, and has been working with the Environmental Justice Foundation and the Pesticide Action Network for many years. Continental Clothing Co. is an active contributor to the International Working Group on the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The Company is certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard, Organic Content Standard and the Global Recycled Standard.

YARNS AND FABRICS

Continental Clothing Co. controls the spinning process of almost seventy percent of all the yarns used in production as part of its vertically-integrated manufacturing structure, with the remainder being carefully sourced externally. All the yarns used by the Company are fully combed and ring spun.

All fabrics are knitted in our own facilities and dyed with GOTS approved chemicals, using low water and controlled discharge processes, certified to OekoTex 100 Class I and REACH compliant. Eco-certified fabrics are dyed in a zero discharge dye house where all water is recycled in a closed system.

REDUCTION OF CARBON FOOTPRINT

The carbon footprint is the total carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and other greenhouse gases emitted during cotton growing and harvesting, fibre processing, textile production, packaging, transport and storage. In January 2008, Continental Clothing Co. became the first company in the world to calculate its carbon footprint and place the Carbon Reduction Label on textile products.

They have reduced the carbon footprint of EarthPositive® products by approximately 90% through a combination of innovative product design, low-impact organic farming, efficiency in manufacturing and by replacing standard grid electricity with renewable wind power. They do not use carbon offsets and the footprint calculations were certified by Carbon Trust Certifications in the UK between 2007 and 2009. It has been calculated that a single EarthPositive® T-shirt saves approximately 7 kilograms of CO2 compared to a conventional T-shirt, while a hoodie saves up to 28 kg. Having increased greenhouse gas emissions to pre-industrial levels, all EarthPositive® products carry the registered "Climate Neutral" label.

CREATED FOR PRINTING

All products are designed and manufactured specifically for garment decoration and, with the exception of the undyed bags, are suitable for all screen printing techniques and all ink types.

Thanks to the high-quality finish, their garments do particularly well with digital direct-to-garment printing.

They emphasize the use of ink types and printing processes with low environmental impact, without phthalates or aromatic solvents, PVC-free, water-based, compliant with environmental and organic standards.

The new Continental® Sublimation T-shirt, made from 100% recycled polyester, is designed specifically for sublimation transfer printing.
